Today, Friday, September 6, 2012 at approximately 2:45pm Metro Narcotics agents involved in an undercover operation in the parking lot of Sports Center next to Natchez High School on Sargent Prentiss Drive, purchased approximately ½ pound of marijuana for 400.00 from Daniel Walk, 29, of 315-B Dumas Drive, Natchez, MS.
Sheriff Mayfield and Metro Narcotics Commander, David Lindsey attempted to stop Walk in the parking lot where the transaction occurred. Walk refused to stop and fled from the scene in a blue van. A chase ensued; Sheriff Mayfield and Commander Lindsey were joined by other metro agents in another vehicle. An attempt to box-in the suspect on Sargent Prentiss Drive was prohibited by traffic. The suspect continued North to Lynda Lee Drive, swerved onto Triumph Lane in Maryland Heights Subdivision.
Agents were finally able to box the suspect in after he struck a metro vehicle with his van. He then attempted to flee on foot. He was arrested at the scene, his residence, 315-B Dumas Drive, and charged with:
- 1. Sale of schedule 1 Marijuana within 1500 ft of a school
- 2. Failure to yield
- 3. Reckless driving
- 4. Felony fleeing arrest
- 5. Aggravated assault
- 6. Resisting arrest
This is Walk’s second arrest in Adams County. His last drug related arrest was in September, 2012.
